Some site filtering working, some not.

Hello!

New user here.

I have been using OpenDNS IP addresses for my router's DNS for a long time, but I just signed up for an account to try block some websites.

I have confirmed that i have set up OpenDNS correctly in my router  by going to https://welcome.opendns.com/ , where it says "Welcome to OpenDNS! Your internet is safer, faster, and smarter because you're using OpenDNS."

Adding individual sites to the block list seems hit-or-miss (or sometimes partial hit/partial miss). Here's what I've found so far.

Sites that don't get blocked at all: Youtube (all movie thumbnails appear, videos play)

Sites that get partially blocked: {legal torrent tracker site - site itself works, tracker seems to have stopped seeing me}.

Sites that do get blocked include: Linkedin.com, arstechnica.com, homedepot.com

Why do some sites not get blocked (like Youtube) but others work fine (or mostly fine?)

Also, just a general question / concern.

I don't know what's going on with OpenDNS support. I had read through some community posts earlier and folks had recommended to those original posters that they should open  a ticket so I did, thrice, and 3 times they have been flat-out deleted. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I just joined so I don't think I've done anything to upset anyone to get me in trouble.

Maybe the community can help?

Thanks!
