Open DNS is new to me. Where do I find the button where I can test if it works?
And also, when I try to install the open DNS updater, my mac says that OpenDNSUpdater cannot be opened, because the developer cant be confirmed. What to do?

Hello,
You can test if OpenDNS is working by visiting www.internetbadguys.com if you receive a message that says OpenDNS has blocked the domain then OpenDNDS is working for you.
---
To install the OpenDNS Dynamic IP Updater please perform the following steps:
* In the Finder on your Mac, locate the app you want to open. Don’t use Launchpad to do this. Launchpad doesn’t allow you to access the shortcut menu.
* Control-click the app icon, then choose Open from the shortcut menu.
* Click Open.
The app is saved as an exception to your security settings, and you can open it in the future by double-clicking it just as you can any registered app.
This is covered in the following Apple kb article: https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/open-a-mac-app-from-an-unidentified-developer-mh40616/mac

There are a couple of test destinations that can be used:
https://welcome.opendns.com = see if your DNS is reaching OpenDNS
http://examplemalwaredomain.com = test malware page (don't worry nothing bad is actually there)
http://www.internetbadguys.com = test phishing page (as Reg mentioned previously)
