I have bikini / lingerie category blocked and http://www.thechive.com is blocking fine, but https://www.thechive.com is not. Any idea why?

It's possible that your ISP is doing some sort of caching, which could lead to inconsistent results between http and https pages. Try flushing the DNS cache on your computer and router, and flushing the browser cache on your computer and see if you get different results.
If that doesn't resolve it confirm that OpenDNS is properly configured, especially that your current IP address is registered on your OpenDNS dashboard.

Also try adding the top level domain thechive.com to your block list and see if this helps prevent access to the site. In general, it shouldn't matter if the domain is http or https, OpenDNS will just block the top level domain in question.
