I am turning up a DS-1 circuit between two 15454. When I put both sides of the circuit in OOS-AINS and look at my near end performance counters for the drop node, it is throwing ES-L, SES-L and LOSS-L errors. 900 each every 15 minutes. When I put a test set (Agilent or Digital Lightwave, doesn't matter) on the source node and use a terminal loop on the drop node, I see the same errors. When I put a test set on the drop node, the errors go away.
Is this normal? If so, why? If not, how can I fix it? When I had this entire network in my lab, I did not see these errors. Now that I've deployed the nodes on production fiber (and the OC-48 spans are clean), this problem has appeared.
Thanks,
Vic

Have you checked out if there is a bug documented for the above behaviour?

I searched but didn't see one. TAC tested it in their lab and reported that this is a normal error for a line without a live electrical signal on it. This doesn't mean it's not a bug but it's not service affecting and seems to go right along with the other weird things Cisco's SONET gear does. - Vic
