Dear community,
today I received the SFP-10G-T-X transceiver for our Catalyst 9200L-48P-4X.
I can't get an uplink.
It seems the SFP+ tranceiver is not recognized by the switch
A bit strange: an "Cisco compatible" 3rd party 10G transceiver is working.
I updated the switch to the latest available firmware Dublin-17.10.1, because at the compatibilty list for the tranceiver is the firmware version 17.6.x the minimum.
regards
Martin

This is not strange but "to be expected".
Using a Cisco-branded optics runs the risk of "not supported" by the platform &/or the firmware version, i. e. to use a specific wavelength of optic the appliance will need to run a minimum version of firmware, however, this limitation is not present when using non-Cisco-branded optics because these manufacturers can easily re-flash the optics to fool the appliances.
We have stopped using Cisco-branded optics for more than five years now. We have not seen any degradation of the network because of our decision.
