Hi there all- new here so please bear with me.
I was presented a situation which I am struggling to come up with a design for. The end user has an OC3 backbone and we have several 2960X switches deployed and they are needing us to connect a couple to the OC3 via fiber. They clarified that it would need to use OC3 signaling. Is it possible to do this with a 2960 or would a different model switch and GBIC needed? I can trunk a new switch into the host locations but not sure how to get connection even established. They also offered up a GPON interface but no idea if that would include the ONT device or not?? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Those transceiver types are designed for use in WAN routers, primarily the ASR 1000 and ASR 9000.

You can use that same tool to see what transceiver types are supported in the 2960X:

No, that's not possible to connect directly. Cisco LAN switches only have Ethernet connection types. Cisco does make ONTs for connection to PON and router interfaces for OC-3 but none of that in their LAN switches as far as I know.

Thank you sir for the response! I did find this SFP but not sure what network device it would plug into?? SFP-OC3-LR1
Cisco is very cryptic...I am thinking that I would need something to bring that connection in then drop to a "device" to 2960 connection (looped fiber)?
