Hi guys,
I have a customer that wants to connected 2 2Gb fibre channel sites together using the Cisco 15000.
I'm new to the ONS boxes.
Just got a quick Q. I've heard that you need a CTM to manage them (what is that?) but is there any other way?
Thanks.

Hi,
Cisco Transport Manager (CTM) is a server based management plattform for bigger ONS networks. You don't need it for smaller networks. You can do everything with the CTC (Cisco Transport Controller). CTC is the management tool and locally stored in each ONS. You just need a browser.
I hope this helps. Please rate all posts.
Cheers

That was a big help.
So what would be the lowest spec ONS box I could use for the above scenario? I intend to manage them going over ADSL to a Cisco 877 then to the ONS box. So on that note, does it have an ethernet port?
Thanks.

Yes, it does have an Ethernet port located on TCC card (called front port) and also on backplane. Use of backplane port is recommended. TCC front port is more useful during on site debugging etc.
