All,
I have a Dell N4032 10G fiber switch with 24 ports 10G copper and 4 ports 10G fiber. I have a Cisco 4900-X 16 port 10G fiber switch. I have a Dell SFP+ GBIC and a Cisco 10G SR SFP+ GBIC.
The devices do not complain about the GBIC when they are plugged in. I get no link light when I plug in the fiber. I've also tried swapping the fiber strands ala. SND/RCV
Any ideas or has anyone had a similar issue? Thanks.
It's very frustrating. These vendors are supposed to build equipment to set standards but often they do not.

Can you provide the exact part number of the Dell transceiver?
I assume the Cisco is an SFP-10G-SR - please confirm.

You're right - those should be interoperable.
On the 4900-X, what do you get from the command:
show interface <interface number> transceiver detail
?

Hi Marvin,
You are correct on the Cisco SFP it's the SFP-10G-SR and the Dell SFP is 10GBASE-SR SFP+ 850nm
Thanks.
