My question revolves around configuring the Cisco ONS 15454 in non-redundant configuration. Consider there are three 454s, each with one OC-12 card provisioned. Software ver 3.0.x .
Consider the following solution.
OC-12 Tx of Node 1 connected to OC-12 Rx of Node 2
OC-12 Tx of Node 2 connected to OC-12 Rx of Node 3
OC-12 Tx of Node 3 connected to OC-12 Rx of Node 1
Would this configuration work, provided redundancy is not a concern? The only concern is whether we can provision traffic onto a network that has physical connections as described above.
If there are issues, are they software related or fundamental SONET issues ?
Thanks,
P

P.Pulickal,
The user is allowed to provision traffic on an unprotected circuit path, which is the configuration that you described. Although this is not a recommended configuration, it is permitted.

Thanks, Brian. My guess is that the unprotected circuit path would generate an alarm pointing out the same and from a theoretical perspective , I am not *too* concerned about the alarm.
Thanks again ,
Praveen.
