Trouble with QSFP-40G-SR4

Hello all,

So we are using these QSFP modules with a six foot MTP patch cable (females on both ends), 1 to 3 split. We have eight of these with this part number but three do not have the rubber thing to pull on. Some work fine, sync in both directions on every power up. Two need to be removed and put back in every time we power up our unit, and one just never seems to work. Our setup has >10 QSFP cages and if I mix and match a bit, the problem follows the QSFP module, not the input to it.

Is there some trick to getting these to work consistently? Do the ends need periodic cleaning? Should we reset after a power up?

Thanks for any comments,

Dave

Dave, It might be not clean. Best practice is to use microscope to clean it. There are too many adapters to clean MTP connector, here is most popular:

- Adapter for MPO ferrule(connector) with PC polish

- Adapter for MPO connector socket with PC polish

- Adapter for MPO ferrule(connector) with APC polish

- Adapter for MPO connector socket with APC polish

Some vendors have adapters ONLY for ferrules, for sample Anritsu. But VIAVI Solutions have all of this adapter, because they own patent for Adapters for MPO connectors PC\APC. That is why I recommend you to choice VIAVI Solutions, they have all of them. Here is selection guide:
