hi all,
somebody knows why the gateways uses only u-law direction phone in mgcp controlled calls?
should be there a command to change this to a-law?
"mgcp codec" command does not solve this problem.

command-type a-law enables you to address poor voice quality. If your system uses a-law pulse-code modulation (PCM), use this command in interface-BRI configuration mode to reconfigure the BRI voice port in the gateway for a-law PCM. Refer URL

sure, there is a compand-type option for pots leg of the call. the u-law compand type in voip call leg is independent of the compand type that is configured on the voice-port.
you have always pcm signal to pstn although you can have g729,g723, g711 etc. in packet based direction.
my question is regarding mgcp and voip call leg.
the gateway uses always u-law and never a-law. i want change this, because i want continuous a-law in my call.
thanks
