Coverage Answer Group

As many of you have surely experienced, I have a cutomer who wishes to use a feature supported by their legacy PBX..."the old system would do this..."

Has anyone successfully created a coverage answer group using only CallManager? This means: multiple phones (analog or IP) ring when an extension is dialed, but, those phones do not share that extension as a line appearance. Almost like a group pickup, but all phones ring and the answerer is not required to dial anything to receive the call.

The simple answer is no. I have seen some work arounds with a group of phones all sharing a large number of line appearances then using something like a CTI Route Point to act as a pilot number to the first line appearance. This is not very elegant. I know a significant number of customers who would like this feature - and before anyone asks - it isn't in 3.3 either! Fingers crossed for 3.4!?!
