I can't find any documentation that describes how to backup and restore a Personal Assistant server. BARS doesn't support PA, and I can't find any docs describing a manual backup process.
I realize much of the data is stored in the LDAP directory, but not all of it is, is it?
Any recommended backup/restore procedures out there?

The PA system configuration and user configuration is stored in the directory (ie DC Directory, Active Directory, or Netscape Directory).
Make sure that you are using the CallManager backup
in order to make regular backups of all the CallManager info (ie SQL database
and directory info).
In case of PA disaster recovery, you can just rebuild the PA server using the OS
and PA CDs. Then point PA back to the directory.
In the event that the CCM or directory server crashed, then you can rebuild the
CCM server and restore from your backup.
With regards to Which Directory Call Manager is currently using it is in a registry key :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cisco Systems, Inc.\Directory Configuration
You will see :
DirType = Default (this means DCD, if it says AD then it is Active Directory)
So once you have changed the Directory Type back on the CallManager you would re-run the
Directory Config on the PA server and all would be good again.
PA SystemAdmin > System > Corporate Directory Settings

I don't think the backup question was really answered regarding backup of the PA.
If a customer uses AD stores can he/she use something like Exec Backup?
