Is it possible to disable the "beep" that the microphone mute button makes?

The intercom paging application I have mutes the destination device's mic (as it should, to prevent feedback) just as the audio stream is opened. Unfortunately, the beep that the button makes is very annoying when a room full of phones all make the sound, not simultaneously, but within fractions of a second of each other. We would like to disable this beep.

This is a "feature" directly related to the phone load, the fix would be upgrading the load.
