Migrating from Exchange 2000 backwards to 5.5

I've got a 3.1(3) system presently built for a full TAPI integration with CM. It's set up in an Exchange 2000 enterprise. Is there a white paper that explains how to shift it back so that it plugs into a separate 5.5 enterprise? Is this easy to do?

since you're going to a seperate network (i.e. your users in the directory are not shared across these systems I assume) your only real option is to do a DiRT back up of your 3.1(3) system, reinstall from scratch pointing it to your Exchange 5.5 server in it's network and do a DiRT restore.
