I know the problem is not the AC adapter. We have a 4006 switch which is connected to a HP ProCurve 4000 through a 1000BaseT uplink. When we plug phones directly into the 4006, the phone gets a IP address from our DHCP server and works fine. Our DHCP server is configured with two scopes: scope 1 is for PC's(10.0.80.x), scope 2 is for phones (10.1.20.X). When we plug the phone into the HP switch and attach the phone with an AC adapter, the phone displays "configuring IP" forever. If you look at the settings, the phone is trying to get an IP address from the wrong scope.
What's the deal?

Vlans!
Your 4006 should be setup with a voice VLAN and a Data VLAN??
Does your HP ProCurve 4000 support VLANS? Also does it support alternate or voice vlans.
If so, you will have to configure trunking. You would need to set the Gigabit uplink to have both the data and voice vlans. I think the 4006 only supports 802.1q...

Do you have option 150 set on both scopes? remove it from the one you don't want an address from.
