When a subscriber tries to edit his private list via Telephone User Interface
(TUI), Cisco Unity plays the failsafe conversation ("Sorry. This system is
temporarily unable to take your call. Please try again later. Goodbye.").
This only happens when the subscriber tries to edit a private list which does
not have its name defined (empty list). The steps are:
1. Log into Unity via TUI
2. Press 4 for Message Settings
3. Press 4 for Private Lists
4. Press 2 for Change Names
5. Select a list number that does not have its name defined
6. Failsafe is played
System: Unity 3.1.4 w/ failover.. Exchange 2000
If I name the list within the subscriber page then the user is able to access the list from the TUI.
Anyone have any suggestions?

I thought that was the issue, but wasn't sure about what it means to upgrade to 4.0.1.. Is it referning to up grading unity. This is not an alpha system. It is a windows 2000. Is there a tool like bulk edit that I can use to asign names to the private lists?

"alpha" there means pre release - yes, they are talking about upgrading to Unity 4.0(1) - which isn't going to be available till end of December.
No, there's no bulk tool that will go through and add names to private distribution lists - that'd be a pretty odd thing to do other than to work around this bug. I'm loath to add such functionality to tools for band aids around specific bugs like this if I can avoid it.
