RS 232 Cable

Hi,

I have been told that to carry out a firmware upgrade on a C40 endpoint I need to connect a RS232 cable to the Comm port at the back of the unit, my question is can I make my own RS232 cable up using pins 2,3 and 5 or does it need to be a Cisco manufactured one. Many thanks  Richie

Richie,

Sure you can create you own RS232 cable, I have attached the document that shows the pin-out for you to follow.

According to the C40/C60 user guide you can upgrade the codec using the web utility, under maintenance --> Software Upgrade.  Typically you only need the RS232 cable for initial configuration, local access, or diagnostics.
