Unity Hanging

Every four or five days we Unity hangs. Callers get a busy signal, the console is sometimes frozen - no mouse, no keyboard, sometimes not frozen. Server is Dell PowerEdge 2400, Windows 2000 sp1, Exch. 5.5 sp4. Starting and stopping Unity solves the problem for a few days.

Norm Cook
Gibson Petroleum Company Limited

What Unity version and switch integration type are you using out there? What kind of memory do you have on that box?

the next time it gets into that state, check out the AvCsMgr process and make a note of how much memory it's using... you could be dealing with a memory leak of some sort. There are several known ones in older versions of Unity that have been fixed along the way.

Dell PowerEdge 2400/733mhz, 512mb Ram. Unity 2.4.5 Call Manager 3.0(7).
I'll check out the AvCsMgr process next time it happens. Until then...

One of our AT folks also suggests:

================
They should make sure they are using AvCiscoTsp 1.0.0.28 or later. AvCiscoTsp 1.0.0.24 has a memory leak that was fixed in 28. Assuming it is a Win2k system they should also have them check the memory of "svchost.exe" processes on the system. One of these process is the Tapi process. A memory leak in the AvCiscoTsp will show up there. If it is a NT 4.0 system, they should check the memory of the TapiSrv.exe process.
