Video Conference sound Issue with Jabber Guest.

Magnus Holsting

Level 1

Issue summary:

Video conference room gets initiated by a video endpoint (MX300, Jabber client, etc.).

JabberGuest link to same conference room dials up and gets connected - but NO SOUND.

If a third party joins all three clients have sound.

If JabberGuest initiates conference - sound is ok

If 2 other clients do the conference sound is ok

The Conference room is in another domain/deployment than Jabber guest, and i have no access to troubleshooting on the VCS's or the MCU etc.

Please speculate in root cause or possible sollutions.

Thank you.

One way or no audio/video issues are 99% of the time firewall related, and depending on which end opens up the connection through the firewall, the results can vary.  I'd suggest the first place to look would be at the firewall logs at what traffic is being dropped.

Hi Wayne

Thanks for your comment.

Would the firewall not continue to block the sound when/if a third party joined the no sound conference?

In this case - when a third party joins everyone have got sound.

Oh - and by the way - this is not a case of one-way sound - but a no way sound ;)

It all depends on where the third connection is, and the ports that it opens up between one, or both, of the other endpoints.

In any case - your best bet is to investigate your firewalls and check the logs to see what traffic it is blocking,.
