Windows Update

Hi,<br>I was wondering if there was anything that I should not install from the windows update page. Is it safe to install all the security updates and rollup package?<br><br>

Adding the security updates from Windows Updates is fine by us. Windows Update is a great little tool for figuring out what you have and what you need. If Microsoft is trying to push you a new copy of Windows Media Player, for example, I would chose to not install it as it would not meet our software policy. Here is a link to the support policy:

I noticed in 3.1(2) (we're not on 2b yet) it seems as though (unofficially of course) the problems with IE6 on client workstations are fixed - I notice it's not certified yet though - any plans to do that? or is the new functionality just a coincidence? :-)

IE 6 should be approved for 3.1(2)... the problems fixed in 3.1(2b) (and the just released 3.1(2c)) weren't IE 6 specific. They fixed a couple problems with ADO calls in the ASP which forced accounts to be a member of the local admins group to gain access to SQL and an issue with the log manager being registered under the administrators context instead of "all users". Both showed up as problems with the SA but neither were browser version specific.

I'm reasonably sure IE 5.5 SP2 is required but IE 6 is fine. I'll double check with the QA folks on Monday to be sure... probably just an oversight in the docs.
