Hello Friends,

I have 6509-E and 6506-E switches in 2 DC's and planning to connet using 40G connection.

Both switches have Sup2T which should support 40G & 10G line cards.

Could someone confim if this kind of setup being deployed and is there any issue's being faced in using 40G connection using 6509 chasis and sup2T line cards.

Thanks & Regards

Ajay Pandey

Won't make any difference for the following reasons:

1.  6500 is not designed for DC work.  You should be looking at Nexus solution;

2.  6500 is designed more for 1 Gbps links with 10 Gbps or a few 40-/100Gbps links.

3.  6500 does not have long to go.  Rumour has it that Cisco will be announcing the EoS in the next 3 years.
