We are testing GRE tunnels on our Nexus 7K's and are able to successfully establish the tunnel, but we are running into an issue with the keepalives. We currently have the GRE tunnels terminating on other pieces of equipment that are running Cisco IOS and the command "keepalive 10 3" allows the tunnel to go down if it can't see the other end. This command is not vaild on the 7K and the tunnel stays up even if the other side is shutdown.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Joe

Whose brilliant idea was that to not support keepalives in the Nexus 7K for GRE tunnels? Are there any plans to support keepalives on GRE tunnels in the future? It would be really helpful for monitoring software to be able to alert you when a tunnel goes down. But in the current state the tunnels on the 7K never go down which is not very helpful when troubleshooting.
