I am looking at building a DR Colo site; however, I am not sure what is the best architecture design concepts. I understand there is HOT/active vs Cold/Standby design concepts, but what I am having a hard time visual in my mind - is how to get the same IP space/subnets over in the DR colo.
Currently I operate locally on prem with about 50 class C subnets; however, I simply cannot just make my colo space with the same blocks and expect to route between them, unless I nat into the colo space; however, I am not sure if this is 'best practice'.
I understand BGP will be an issue as well; however, I am not there on concepts yet, until I get the LAN architecture understood.
What other items do I need to worry about when building a DR colo space model?
Due to the latter, what are some good papers, or sites that will detail the steps to build a HOT or COLD colo presence?
Also, do the architecture model change if folks decide to use colo as High Availability?
