How can I stop a Prime Infrastructure 1.3 backup?

Is there a way to stop a running backup or at the very least view the status of a backup in PI 1.3?

issue ncs stop from CLI to kill the backup process

I guess that would be my last resort.  Trying to avoid stopping the NCS application.
