I have network scanning tools that will give me information about my devices: MAC address, operating system, etc.. Is there an easy way to identify my Cisco switches: ideally model, type, series, etc.?
You can use "show module" on the CLI directly. This will give you the platform, additional modules if any, running version, serial number and system MAC address range.
Or were you looking for a script to collect that automatically?
