We have a pair of Nexus 7009 running image 6.2(2a). All the buling access switches 2960 are connected to them through ten gig uplink. When i do sh cdp neighbour on one of the buling switch to see the connectivity with Nexus core switches. It shows below output.

Access_SW01#sh cdp neighbor

Capability Codes: R - Router, T - Trans Bridge, B - Source Route Bridge

                  S - Switch, H - Host, I - IGMP, r - Repeater, P - Phone,

                  D - Remote, C - CVTA, M - Two-port Mac Relay

Device ID                                                          Local Intrfce     Holdtme    Capability       Platform       Port ID

CS7009-A                                                          Ten 1/0/1         159            R S I C           N7K-C7009 Eth 3/15

CS7009-B                                                          Ten 1/0/2         164            R S C            N7K-C7009 Eth 3/15

My question is why it shows different Capability mean CS7009-A shows RSIC & CS7009-B shows RSC. Both core switches having identical software version, identical config & rest of the things.

Thanks

It appears IGMP isn't enabled on the B switch or has been disabled on e3/15.

What does 'sh ip igmp int e 3/15' report on 7009-B ?

Matthew many thanks indeed for your prompt response but i would like to tell you that when i do sh cdp neighbour on other building access switch. It given different output & shows both link capability RSC. I really confused why it shows different different outputs. It supposed to be identical as I am running identical configuration on both core switches. Please advise

Thanks

Hope you have not enabled bundling...

Might be due to any multicast enabled vlan active via int E1/15 of switch a. E1/13 might be carrying different set of  vlan.... wild wild guess.

Can we have a look at the N7K configs and one of the 2960 configs if they are identical.

Cheers,
