If a 1548u is connected to a 3500xl switch and loop is on the 1548 side can the 3500 shut the port down? I had it happen and it brought the 3500 down to a crawl.

I saw the data sheet for the Cisco 1548 Micro Switch (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps211/products_data_sheet09186a008009205e.html). As per the data sheet, the IEEE 802.1d Spanning-Tree Protocol is supported by the 1548. I guess that does mean that it can shut down the port in case of loop formation. However, that should not affect the performance of the 3500xl. I guess the problem lies elsewhere.

I removed the loop that was connected to the 1548 and the 3500xl returned to normal.
