2516 features

Good Day,

I'm looking for a router for a test environment that has multiple ethernet ports that can be configured with an IP and vlan trunking.

I saw a 2516, and don't think it is what I'm looking for, but want to be sure.

Am I correct in my understanding that this is no more than a hub integrated within the chassis of a router and that the ethernet ports cannot be configured with features offered by the router IOS?

You are correct. These are hub ports and cannot be configured. Also you require a FastEthernet port to configure trunking and the 2500 series only offers 10mb ports. I would look at a 2611xm.
