we have 32 2600 routers running 11.3(5)T and when we did a Network scanning,29 out of the 32 went into Rommon mode and the remaining 3 of them rebooted themselves and came back up fine.Is there any associated bug for the 2600 with Network scanning. What are the reasons why the router goes into the ROMMON mode.Any feedback will be helpful.
Thanks

Hello Anu,
You mean, when you performed a Network Port Scanning ( I assume so)...all 29 of them rebooted and came back up on rommon??? while the other 3 rebooted ??
If thats the case, it could be a due to software crash too...Do you see a stack trace when you issue a show version command on all routers, after reboot. What does show version command, display, as the reason for last reboot.??

Shanky
Only 3 routers rebooted by themselves and came back up.The other routers were manually power-cycled.The reason for last reboot on the 29 routers which went to ROMMON mode is "System restarte by power on" because they were power-cycled.But the remaining 3 routers that rebooted themselves show "System restarted by error - a SegV exception, PC 0x805805E8".
Thanks

Can you double check the config register settings on the 2600s (29 of them...though its less likely that all of them would have a config-setting of 0x2101).....
The remaining three rebooted due to a software crash. SegV exceptions occur usually due to mem. allocation failures...such as for example...
a. process tries to access an invalid mem address
b. the program counter of the CPU jumps to an invalid address
c. Process trying to write to an invalid mem address, thats not allocated to its process...
Give a show stack command on those 3 routers, and use Cisco Output interpreter to display potential issues as well as bug fixes if any available.
I hope u have access to Cisco Output Interpreter (for which u need a CCO login. Link to COI can be found here....
http://www.cisco.com/kobayashi/support/tac/tools.shtml
Once you get this run, COI will give any bug IDs if any exists.
Hope that helps!

Yes.I found the SegV Exceptions link and I suspect its bug CSCdm64107.
But the routers in ROMMON mode,I am not sure what the issue is yet.
The Config register is 0x2102.I will check the bug list again as the routers are running a very early version - 11.3(5)T.
Thanks so much
Anu
