I am looking to deploy a Cisco 2801 router as a WAN router and MGCP gateway for an Intertel VoIP network. The MGCP gateway must handle four POTS lines, convert them to VoIP, and route them through the WAN port to a remote Intertel IP PBX. Using the Cisco Configuration Tool I came up with this hardware list:
CISCO2801 2801 Router/AC PWR,2FE,4slots(2HWICs),2AIMS,IP BASE,64F/128D1
WIC-1T 1-Port Serial WAN Interface Card
VIC2-4FXO Four-port Voice Interface Card - FXO (Universal)
PWR-2801-AC-IP Cisco 2801 AC/IP power supply
S280IPV-12311T Cisco 2801 IOS IP VOICE
PVDM2-16 16-Channel Packet Voice/Fax DSP Module
Is this list correct and complete? And is the MGCP configuration the same or similar to one with a Cisco CallManager acting as the IP PBX?
Regards,
dk

Is the setup like this ?
Pots----2801----WAN---router---intertel PBX
Not sure what versions of MGCP are supported by Intertel. You will have to determine TCP/ip ports used by Intertel for MGCP. 2427 is what Callmanager uses. In the mgcp call-agent command on the router you can specify what ports are used.
Havent encountered a setup like this, so I am not sure if this will work or not. Why cant you use H323?

You got the setup right, shanky. They are currently using an AudioCodes MP104 MGCP gateway device, but the vendor can't seem to get it to work properly in a VLAN environment - we implemented separate VLANs for IP voice and data.
I suppose we could use H.323. But I thought I would stay with MGCP, since that is what they are currently using and I am more familiar with that configuration.
Do you have any suggested reading for the H.323 configuration?

Here are some sample docs. These might related to Callmanager.
