2851 Routing

We just recently purchased a 2851 with two modules (HWIC4-ESW and NMD36-ESW). We are using this box as a VLAN server and created 5 user defined VLANs. I'm not sure what we are missing, but we can't seem to route between any of the VLANs. The switching is working. We have trying looking online for a configuration guide, but there doesn't seem to be any documentation on the 2851 yet. If you can answer 1 of 2 questions that would be great.

1. How is VLANing on the 2851 different from the 6500 series routers? or

2. Where can we get a configuration guide for the 2851

Thank you for your help

Hi,

I had similiar issues with the 36-ESW and a 9 port module for the 2851. You need to create the layer 2 vlans in vlan database. Then create your SVI's for intervlan routing. The 36-ESW is based on older switching technology, I think the 3500-XL family.

I could not get the same vlan in the 9 port to talk with the same vlan in the 36 port. Cisco TAC said there was hardware compatibility issues. I had to pull the 9 port module out and stick with the 36 port. Figuring out the differences of the NDM36-ESW was a challenge.
