I just purchased a 2948g layer 2 switch.

Everytime I boot the switch up it stops at the prompt

rommon1>

If I type in boot it will load the switch. Also my passwords I set did not save.

Are you suppose to save any configurations when you make any?

How do I get around that rommon1> prompt problem?

Seems youe config register is incorrectly set, this needs to be changed.

This should do the trick

rommon1>confreg 0x2102

NB!! you must dump these bits in hex if you forget the 0x then you will be in trouble.

reload

set boot config-register 0x2
