I'm having problems with a Catalyst 2950 48-port switch with the standard image and auto-negotiation. It takes about 30 seconds for the clients and the switch to successfully auto-negotiate a connection. Has anyone else seen this problem?
Did you use the the Switchport host command on all the user ports , sounds like you are waiting for spanning tree to run thru it's startup , switchport host will eliminate this .
OK we've set the switchports to host and stil had the same problem. We turned off STP altogether (single switch environment) and still had the problem. I'm going to recommend that we next force the speed and duplex settings for both sides and see what happens.
