Hello,
Someone knows if there is a possibility that Cisco will implement a layer 3 switching capability in the Catalyst 3500 XL series?
Thanks.

That model of switch is End of Sale/End of Life.

I know this, but it seems that new catios images are being realesed for this appliance.
The last one, version 12.0(5)WC9a was released on 20-Apr-2004.
So I've made this question.
Thanks and bye.

According to this:

They will continue to develop software fixes, etc. until Aug 12, 2004.
To make a L2 switch possess L3 switching functionality would require more than software. There are additional hardware components/architectural changes needed. The 3550 is the replacement model for the 3500. It has L3 functionality.
Hope this helps.
