Hi everyone,

We have Catalyst 6509 MLS as backbone of our Network. We've added one 3548 switch , connected with 6509 through GBIC port . I assigned management IP address to 3548 , can able to ping 6509 and other switches as well from the new 3548 switch . But , from new 3548 switch ,I can't see VLAN's available in 6509. I configured the new switch as VTP client mode , Domain name is also correct (6509 acts as VTP Domain ) , but still can't view VLAN's .There is a connectivity between 6509 & 3548 (ping is ok ) ,it's not getting VLAN info from 6509 . what could be the problem?.

Thanks in adavance ...

THere can be a few thing going on.

- The trunk is not up between the 6500 and the 3500

- A VTP password is used

- VTP domain is incorrect

If the trunk is up it would be best to look at the vtp counters

show vtp counters and see wich error counter is incrementing (if any)
