4506 sup IV and 6509 SupII

I believe only one GIBC port on Sup IV in 4506 is active and another one is in standby mode (no traffic can pass through at all). Can anyone confirm this? Or both GIBC ports are active?

Two GBIC ports on SupII in 6509 are active. So if I have 2x SupII cards, 4 GIBC ports will be active(traffic can go through 4 ports). Is that the case?

Thanks.

Hi,

Both ports on the 4506 should be active, a current customer has 2 x 4506's which are dual connected to 2 x 6509 switches and both are active however one interface is blocking due to spanning-tree.

With the 6509's you can use all four interfaces if you have two MSFCs.

If you just have one Sup4 in the chassis both uplinks are active. If you have 2 Sup4 in the chassis only gig1/1 and 2/1 are active
