6500-QoS for multicast bandwidth

I have a scenario in which there is one 6500 switch which is connected to 4 servers and PC's. There exists multicast applications

which will be initiated by the host and will contact the server for multicast streaming. I want to apply QoS or some form of rate limiting such that i can define 50% of the bandwidth for multicast and the rest of the bandwidth for the other traffic. Is there a way to do this. I thought i could do it using the bandwidth or priority command on the

policy-map statement, but it says that it will not be utilised if the packets are hardware switched.

Any suggestions on how this can be done

Hi,

You may consider to use "storm-control multicast level" command if running IOS or set port broadcast (with the multicast) parameter if running CatOS.

However there are C6K modules that do not support the IOS command and CatOS is only supported for GigE ports.

Best regards,

Antonin
