6500 Supervisor Cards Forwarding

Environment:

6500-Switch-1, switch port 2/16 connected to 6500-B port 1/1, port 1/2 vacant (active sup. slot 1, port 1/1 forwarding)

6500-Switch-2 switch port 2/16 connected to 6500-B port 2/1, port 2/2 vacant (standby sup. slot 2, port 2/1 blocking)

Question:

If 6500-Switch-1 were powered down would the 6500-B switch start forwarding traffic on the standby supervisor card in slot 2 even if the primary supervisor card is still active?

Per connections you gave out, port 2/1 should not be blocking since there is no loop. So I am not sure what your topology looks like. Assuming you have a physical loop topology and if port 2/1 is the best path to 6500-Switch-2, port 2/1 would go forwarding.

Anyways, all 4 uplink ports are active by default on a CAT6500 and it does not matter which Supervisor is active.
