6509 Low memory

I have a 6509 with 2xSup2, 1x48 port 10/100 and 1xIDSM2. After upgrading to catos 8.3.2 I have low memory problems and are often not able to do any show commands. doing a failover to the secondary sup doesnt solve the problem either. shutting down the IDS brings the memory use down to 85% so now atleast I can do sh commands again. has anyone here had any similar problems.

Another switch with same hw and software but no IDSM2 does not have this problem

The reduced memory may be due to the catos upgrade, when you get new releases of software it is usual for them to use more memory, both in Flash and DRAM.

Also, each module inserted in to the chassis will have a memory requirement, so adding additional modules will reduce the amount of additional system memory, which is why your other system with no ids is fine.

Either downgrade your catos or install extra DRAM.
