Does anybody know where I can find out the performance of a 2621XM (running IPSEC 3DES) when running AES. This is for a barebones box only (I.e. no AIM module). I have found the performance of all the AIM modules, but not for the software-only implementation. Many thanks. Rich.

Rich,
I don't think you'll get any answers on this as its probably not supported by Cisco to run AES on a router without an encryption module.
I tried to find out the same when using 3DES on 3620 routers on a 2Mbps line and was told similar.
The processor on the router regularly maxed out during file transfers across this link hence this is why i asked the question.
In the end we installed encryption modules and all was fine.
I think AES is more processor intensive than 3DES but don't quote me on that!
Thanks
PD

Thats pretty much what I thought. I think it is supported, but like you say, the router performance is going to get a hammering.
I've put the request to our Cisco SE, if I get a response I'll post it here.
Many thanks,
Richard
