Anyone used 100 Base LX?

I'm struggling to find info on 100 Base LX over single mode fiber. Has anyone used it or is aware of the standard?

What's the distance to the next device, and is it compatible with other devices? I only see a few devices with it listed.

I need to deploy a few small industrial ethernet switches at remote locaitons, and don't really want to run MMF.
