Hello,
I have been tasked with trying to discover what is wrong with our current adsl connection. I have issued the show dsl interface atm command and made good progress in understanding the meaning of the output. (I would gladly share my findings by way of a spreadsheet.)
But I need an expert to cast their eye over the output to tell me if it is 'bad' or 'good'. Our router is a Cisco 2800 with four atm ports. We are in the UK.
It is my understanding that the line from the exchange to our building is quite long and the connection between the wall and the router is over 4 metres.
I also noticed a couple of LOM defects on atm0/0/0 and atm0/2/0.
Thank you in advance.

Seems good. It showsyou're far away from CO with all the consequences.

Paolo,
Thank you. Am I correct in thinking that the attenuation values are a good indication of line length? Also is a negative noise margin value an indication that the ratio of signal strength to noise is bad for our connection?
I am having problems discovering the formula that is used to determine values and also what the optimal values should be. For example, looking at the attentuation, output power and noise margin values, is there a way of determining what is an 'acceptable/correct/expected' amount of crc/es/header errors?
Thanks once again in advance for your help,
David

Negative noise margine is certainly a bad thing, I didn't had noticed and had never saw one before.
I don't have these formulas and I'm not sure if they even exists.
You can try updating ADSL firmware or the entire IOS (search), and get some improvement.
Alternatively see if you can get telco in switching you to a better pair, they can do good when they really want.
