when I use this command, does it automatically route through it ? how would i put my static routes in this case, would I need 2, 1 for the normal interface and 1 for the backup interface ?

Hi Carl,
Yes, you need to point to routes to the other end. You can have only two normal static routes pointing to different interfaces and only one will get installed in the routing table as the backup is in standby mode.
HTH, Please rate if it does.
