Baselining Cisco Routers for CPU and memory useage

Howdy All,

Well, I've been asked by our Senior network analyst to see if I can baseline the routers for CPU utilization and memory usage. I found a mib entry that is encased in the OldCiscoSystemMIB for CPU utilization, but I cannot find where I should look in more modern mibs. Furthermore I am not even sure if I can do this in Cisco Works 2000, or if I should just use HP NNM SNMP collector to do the work for me.

Can anyone offer some advice on whether CiscoWorks 2000 can do this, and how. If not, does anybody have any suggestion on OID's I should look at to base line the network? Thanks.

You can look at some white papers: http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/126/. You can also use DFM if you have this with CW2K to do the fault management and creare polling and thresholds for your devices. Can also look at: http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/477/SNMP/collect_cpu_util_snmp.html

Thank you. Unfortunetly we do not have DFM... but the whitepapers you mentioned will be a big help.
