hi all,
is it possible to do bridging over GRE tunnels? I've found mixed results searching the forums thus far.
my goal is bridge IP over the internet to/from 3 different sites.
thanks.

bridging over GRE is not supported. Is it possible to try DLSW.

L2TPv3 is a good option but it is point to point.

I thought DLSW was used to bridge token ring networks to ethernet networks - can it also be used to (transparently) bridge ethernet to ethernet?

DLSW will not provide you with the capability you are looking for. Basically DLSW provides a means of transporting IBM SNA and NetBIOS traffic over an IP Network. What you require is a transparent extension of an ethernet segment over an IP network. Bridging is one way of achieving it but unfortunately i have not yet been able to find anything regarding its support on GRE tunnels and as far as i know it is not supported.
Like i said earlier do some reading on L2TPv3. It works pretty well for point to point LAN extensions.

HI,
I was looking for answers to this myself (strange enough). I found that when I tried to put the tunnel interface into an IRB Bridge Group I got an error that said it was not supported.
I wish that it was, it would be a good solution.
