The "IOS Upgrader Planner" said for a Cisco 4000 to have Enterprise Plus 12.x IOS it will need 32mb or memory. The problem is the Cisco 4000 manual says that the MAX memory it supports is 16mb. I tried loading the image any ways, but I get a error stating I o not have enough memory to decompress the image.
General info. I have 16mb of flash on the upgraded daughter board, 16mg of main memory, and 1mb of shared memory. I have upgraded both the EPROMs with the daughter board upgrade. This is the Cisco 4000 router not the 4000m.

I know the 4500M comes with 16MB and can be upgraded to 32MB.
I also know that the 4700-M comes with 32MB DRAM and can be upgraded 64MB.
However I do believe you have the 4500-M. The front of the chassis just says 4000 series and I belive that is why you think you have a 4000.
I hope this helps you out.

Steve

Thank you for your reply. The router is not a 4000-M it is a straight 4000. In the maual for the 4000 is shows it can be maxed out to only 16mb. It doesn't make since that you can upgrade a router to 16mb of flash and yet you can only put 16mb of memory in it. Like I mention above, the "IOS Upgrader Planner" show a 32mb image for a 4000 router with Enterprise Plus on it. I have a feeling that even though the manual said it can only handle 16mb it can handle 32mb. I'm just tring to gather some info befor spending the $$ on the memory upgrade.
Thanks again for your reply.

Hey,
Well sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the answer to the question is no.
I look it up and if you had the M you could do the upgrade.
DRAM for Router 4000
Number of Single In-Line Memory Module (SIMM) Sockets
4000 Four - 4 x 1MB or Four - 4 x 4 MB
Router
Number of Single In-Line Memory Module (SIMM) Sockets
4000
One socket available for a memory daughter card with either EEPROM or Flash SIMM support. Original daughter cards supported either 2 or 4MB of EEPROM; later versions support 8 or 16MB of Flash SIMM, using either two 4MB SIMMs or two 8MB SIMMs on the daughter card.
