Can you use etherchannel to connect a 3745 and a 3550?

I would like to connect a 3550 switch to a 3745 router utilizing an FastEther channel. I located documentation on how to connect a 7500 router to an Catalyst 6500 but is doesn't work with the 3550 and 3745. I can get everything configured but can not ping the other end of the channel. Anyone done this? I want the channel to be a L3 link.

Any help would be appreciated.

Etherchannel is typically a Layer2 feature.

With a router, it might be a better way to use two seperate links. It will do load balancing and failover, just like a channel.

For a channel, you would need loopback interfaces or someting like that to assign an IP address to.

Could you please upload how you configured this?
