Cannot create MFR interface

We have been trying to create a multilink frame relay connection on one of our routers and have not been successful in the first step - creating a mfr interface. I think this should be pretty cut and dry, but obviously I have missed something.

In a nutshell I get an invalid command when I try to create the mfr interface.

Here are the steps I have taken.

1. Enter enable mode

2. Enter global config mode

config t

3. Create mfr interface

(config) # int mfr 0

At this point I receive an invalid command and the pointer rest under the "f" in mfr. If I use help (int ?) I can verify that mfr is a valid command

option. If I go further with help ( int mfr ?) it will prompt for the interface number ( 0 - xxxxxxxx).

Once I enter a interface number I again receive the invalid command with the pointer resting again under the "f" in ' int mfr 0'. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Router - 2620

IOS image - c2600-ipbase-mz.123-6c.bin

Flash - 16 Memory -64

Also, this is a functioning router running two separate frame relay interfaces with numerous subinterfaces currently.

Thanks,

change the encapsulation framerelay to

encapsulation frame-relay mfr (this where you put your lmi-type

then create an interface mfr

(this is where you put the ip info dlc_ you can create subinterfaces.Remember you have to do both ends.

Let me know
