Cat 6500 GB Modules

Hello,

I'm investigating adding some Copper GB modules to our 6506. We currently have a 2 SUP modules (WS-X6K-SUP1A-2GE), 1 48 port 10/100 module (WS-X6248-RJ-45), and 1 8 port fiber gb module (WS-X6408-GBIC). We're running 5.3(1) Boot strap and 6.1(4) NMP.

I was looking at the 6316-GE-TX and the 6516-GE-TX. The only discernable difference I can see is that the 6516 can do 10/100/1000 while the 6316 can only do 1000. Am I correct? If thats the truth than the 6316 is fine as I haven't populated my 48 port module yet. If you have any other suggestions for me that would be great! Thanks!

WS-X6516-GE-TX is also Fabric enabled card. It can also suppport optinal distributed DFC card. But these features can only be used with a Sup2 and a SFM module. Since you have a Sup1a, no value in having WS-X6516-GE-TX, unless you are planning to upgrade to Sup2/SFM at a later date
